The mission of the Illinois State Historical Society,
founded in 1899, is to publish the Journal of the
Illinois State Historical Society, and, through this
journal, other publications, services, and programs to
promote the preservation, writing, publishing, teaching,
understanding, and awareness of Illinois history.

of the Illinois State Historical Society
- The Journal of the Illinois State Historical
Society (ISSN 1522-1067) is published four times a
year (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) by the Illinois
State Historical Society and is provided free of charge to
ISHS members. Membership
is open to anyone interested in Illinois history.
We
welcome essays, articles, and documents about Illinois, or
its Midwest region. Studies about literature, art,
technology, law, or other subjects are also welcome.

- Illinois Heritage is published six times a year
by the Illinois State Historical Society and is provided
free of charge to ISHS members.
