Historical Markers

Since 1934, the Illinois State Historical Society has erected more than 500 historical markers statewide. Subjects of historical significance to Illinois are co-sponsored by local organizations and supporters. The Illinois State Historical Society coordinates the placement and management of historical markers throughout the state.

The 3rd Annual Fun Frosty Friday is just around the corner!
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum invites you to join us the day after Thanksgiving to jump start your Holiday Adventures! This FREE family event will start the holiday season off right for your entire family. Fun Frosty Friday has expanded campus wide this year!

Activities Include: 

Union Square Park (weather permitting)
Outdoor adventures in Union Square Park, across from the Museum include: 
  • Barrel Train ride
  • Lincoln’s New Salem will demonstrate 19th century blacksmithing
  • Learn fire safety from the Illinois State Fire Marshal

Savor a cup of hot cocoa at our Hot Cocoa Bar while you take in the sights and sounds of Fun Frosty Friday.

Life-sized Candy Land Adventure
In 2016 we premiered our Life-Sized Candy Land Adventure to rave reviews!! Experience a timeless board game like never before as you stroll through Peppermint Forest, Ice Cream Slopes, Licorice Lagoon, Gumdrop Pass, and Chocolate Mountain. Your adventure will include photo ops, treats, games and prizes. Children of all ages will enjoy this quest!
