Jamestown, Virginia, celebrates its 3rd century. The Tercentennial Exhibition includes the Illinois Building, which pays tribute to Abraham Lincoln and to the state's history. The exhibit closes December 1, 1907.

Since 1934, the Illinois State Historical Society has erected more than 500 historical markers statewide. Subjects of historical significance to Illinois are co-sponsored by local organizations and supporters. The Illinois State Historical Society coordinates the placement and management of historical markers throughout the state.

Western Illinois University professor of history Ginny Boynton will discuss "Farmerettes and Factory Inspectors: Women's Roles in Illinois During World War I" at 7 p.m. April 13 at the Macomb Country Club. Boynton's presentation is free and open to the public.
