Historic Churches to be Honored
The Illinois State Historical Society invites 150-year-old Illinois houses of worship to apply for official recognition as "Illinois Sesquicentennial Churches." Congregations that have continuously met since 1866 or earlier are invited to apply for the designation (synagogues too) through the Society's Sesquicentennial Church program. Applications are available on-line at www.historyillinois.org, or from the Society. Call 217-525-2781 for an application. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2016. Houses of worship will be honored at a special luncheon this fall in Peoria.
