Prairieland Chautauqua: “Illinois: A Bicentennial Celebration”

Morgan County Historical Society

Under the auspices of the Morgan County Historical Society (MCHS), Prairieland Chautauqua will produce Illinois: A Bicentennial Celebration. This event consists of twelve, independent, hour-long programs presented over the Labor Day weekend, 2018, reflecting on 200 years of Illinois history. Lectures, actor portrayals of historical characters, and music will interpret the rich heritage of Illinois over its 200-year existence. In addition, to focus on the relevance of the Jacksonville area to the proud history of Illinois, a display of historic artifacts gathered from the holdings of the Jacksonville Heritage Cultural Center Museum will be on display for public view in the lobby area of the venue. This event is free and open to the public.

Admission: Free. Donations are humbly accepted.
