Pierre Menard Home Annual Christmas Festival
Come celebrate Christmas with the 19th century traditions of the French of Kaskaskia, New Orleans, and Montreal. Some of these traditions are still observed today!

Sat Dec 8th: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Sit by the fire and enjoy fellowship with your neighbor (weather permitting; we will be inside if it is raining or too cold), walk through the decorated Pierre Menard Home, learn the traditions of a French Christmas and about réveillon (a long dinner held on the evenings preceding Christmas Day and New Year's Day), and listen or dance to Christmas music of the time. Pere Noel will be here for the children to visit with, as well! Candles will guide you from the parking lot to the event.

Enjoy a taste of potato soup, two styles of bread, tourtiere (meat pie as cooked in the French Montreal/Quebec area), and deserts (such as pralines, bûche de Noël (Yule log), gingerbread cookies, and more). Drinks include mulled wine, old fashion egg nog, cold apple cider, and French coffee.

This event is free and open to the public. Donations are greatly appreciated.

Period dress is encouraged but not required.

***In the event of inclement weather, this event will be in the Home and Summer Kitchen. If it snows or freezes, the event may be cancelled or postponed.***
