Lincoln Expert Harold Holzer Inaugurates Quincy Lecture Series

Prize winning historian Harold Holzer will deliver the first address in the new "Samuel C. Rinella Jr. Memorial Lincoln Lecture Series" at Orr Auditorium, John Wood Community College, on Friday, October 25.

Holzer has entitled his Quincy presentation, “Covering the Great Debates: Lincoln, Douglas, the  Press, and the Legacy.” It is the focus of his recent and highly acclaimed book, Lincoln and the Power of the Press: The War for Public Opinion. It is a superbly researched and masterfully written study of Lincoln’s understanding of the importance of the press and how he was first to use it to speak directly to the people.

The event will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium lobby. The reception and  lecture will be free and open to the public.
