The Madison County Historical Society, the St. Clair County Historical Society, and the Illinois State Historical Society hosted two separate one-day cemetery preservation workshops on May 20 and May 21, 2022. The expert instructors were John Heider and Dawn Cobb. John is an accomplished cemetery preservation specialist with decades of experience. Dawn is an archaeologist specializing in cemetery preservation with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The workshops were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church & Cemetery located at 7201 W. Main Street in Maryville, Illinois.
