Illinois Heritage Magazine

Illinois Heritage, the popular history magazine of the Illinois State Historical Society, was established in 1997 to encourage professional and amateur historians, museum professionals, teachers, genealogists, journalists, and other researchers to explore and write about Prairie State history for a broad audience.

Illinois Heritage is published six times per year and is available as a benefit of membership in the Illinois State Historical Society. Individual editions can also be purchased by contacting our office directly. Visit our Membership section for membership options and information.

House of Alvarus Gage, Founder of Somonauk, Historical Marker Dedication

DeKalb County Historical Society and the Illinois State Historical Society

Join us on Saturday, October 17, at 1 p.m. for the dedication of the House of Alvarus Gage, Founder of Somonauk historical marker.

A controlled tour of the original restored house will precede (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) the ceremony and continue afterwards 2 p.m.to 5 p.m. There will be a rotation of 10 shoe booties to keep the tour moving safely. Face masks are required.

This marker is sponsored by the DeKalb County Historical Society and the Illinois State Historical Society.
