On-site Safety and Health Consultation Program for Museums and Preservation Groups

Illinois Department of Labor

Attention local museums and preservation groups!

The Illinois Department of Labor would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to its On-site Safety and Health Consultation Program, a health and safety resource for your organization. The Federal OSHA is partnering with The American Institute for Conservation concerning the potential safety hazards within the industry and has asked IDOL to work with local museums and preservation groups to inform them of our program. OSHA federally funds IDOL’s On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program.

The Program provides voluntary and confidential workplace safety and health assistance at no-cost to the employer. Consultants who are knowledgeable in occupational safety and health can assist in identifying and correcting hazardous conditions.  Together you and a consultant will develop systematic strategies to protect your employees and cultural heritage work from recognized hazards.  The Program will also assist you in recognizing underlying factors which may have led to these hazards, as well as educate you on the OSHA regulations.  A solid understanding on this topic will allow you to better communicate your risk control plans to employees, management, or board members.
