The expert instructors are John Heider and Dawn Cobb. John is an accomplished cemetery preservation specialist with decades of experience. Dawn is an archaeologist specializing in cemetery preservation with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The workshops will take place on May 20 and May 21, 2022, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., at the St. John’s Lutheran Church & Cemetery located at 7201 W. Main Street in Maryville, Illinois. Students will learn about researching and preserving historic cemeteries. The workshop includes classroom sessions and fieldwork in the historic St. John’s Lutheran Church plus a box lunch.
