Each year, your generous donations make it possible for the Illinois State Historical Society to grant numerous scholarships to deserving applicants throughout the state. The Verna Ross Orndorff Scholarship ($1000) was established in 1989 in honor of River Forest resident Verna Ross Orndorff, a lifelong student of Illinois history, to encourage interest in Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War in Illinois high schools.
The King V. Hostick Scholarship was established by the late manuscript dealer, King V. Hostick, to provide financial assistance to graduate students of history and library science who are writing dissertations dealing with Illinois.
