Best of Illinois History Awards 2022

2022 "Best of Illinois History" Awards

Mark your calendars! The Illinois State Historical Society will host its 123rd Annual Meeting this year at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield on April 9, 2022. More than thirty-five remarkable nominees will be honored and awarded for their outstanding achievements and publications on Illinois history.

This year marks the first ceremony since the COVID-19 pandemic began two years ago, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate together in appreciation and congratulations of the accomplishments of our Illinois historians.

ISHS executive director William Furry believes that this year’s group of nominees is especially memorable. "It has been a great year for history in Illinois, despite the pandemic. Although it virtually shut down the state, COVID-19 created opportunities for Illinois historians, historical societies, and museums to create special projects that tell our Prairie State stories. Now it's time to celebrate their achievements. Join us on April 9 at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield to recognize the ISHS's "Best of Illinois History" award recipients for 2022."

The luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield, 420 South Sixth Street. The price to ISHS members for this luncheon buffet is $50 per person, $60 for non-members. Please make your reservations early as seating is limited. Paid parking for the event will be at the city parking ramp immediately to the north of the Hoogland Center, and free but limited on-street is available up and down Fifth and Sixth streets, as well as on some side streets.
