Today in history

Al Capone dies in Florida. Born in New York in 1899 to immigrant parents, Alphonse "Scarface" Capone's 7-year reign as crime boss of the Chicago Outfit ended when he was 33, with a prison sentence for tax evasion. His role in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929 of 7 rival gang members led to the federal government's determination to end his reign in Chicago.
