Historical Markers

Since 1934, the Illinois State Historical Society has erected more than 500 historical markers statewide. Subjects of historical significance to Illinois are co-sponsored by local organizations and supporters. The Illinois State Historical Society coordinates the placement and management of historical markers throughout the state.

A lecture/slideshow presented by Greg Borzo takes you on a tour of Chicago's fabulous fountains. Chicago is home to 130 outdoor public fountains. They splish and splash in fun, artistic and often surprising ways with fascinating behind-the-scenes stories to tell. Who built them and why? What do they represent? This lavishly illustrated presentation tours Chicago’s wet and wild side filled with art, architecture, history and mystery with author Greg Borzo.
