During the 1800s Chicago experienced a meteoric rise. Early in the century it was little more than a vulnerable fort. Join Illinois and Midwest Studies Historian Jacob Friefeld for a brief talk about nineteenth-century Chicago followed by a discussion on strategies and resources for teaching about the city and inserting it within the broader history curriculum.
