ISHS to Honor Illinois Centennial Businesses

Is your Illinois-based business a century or more older?

Since 1984, the ISHS has presented Centennial Awards to Illinois businesses and not-for-profit organizations that have operated continuously in the state for 100 years or more. Previous ISHS Centennial honorees number more than 1,400 and include banks, businesses, manufacturers, cemetery associations, libraries, private utility companies, country clubs, funeral homes, newspapers, union organizations, “mom and pop” general stores, and municipalities.

The ISHS Centennial Awards Committee invites documented centennial businesses to join this select group. Because this is the state’s bicentennial year, we hope to make our 2018 celebration of Illinois industry and commerce even more special with a reception at the newly restored Executive Mansion in Springfield. For your business to participate in this event, the Centennial Business Awards application (You can download it on our website) should be completed and returned to the ISHS by June 30, along with appropriate documentation and a non-refundable payment of $50 (administrative fee). This fee supports the work of the ISHS, a private not-for-profit organization that receives no tax dollars from state government bodies. Applications may also be submitted by email or fax, accompanied by a Visa or MasterCard charge authorization.

New honorees will be welcomed to celebrate with us at a “guests only” reception, planned for Fall 2018 at the Executive Mansion. Photographs and press releases of all award winners will be sent to community and statewide media outlets. Recognition will also be found on the ISHS website and Facebook pages.

Deadline for application submission: June 30, 2018.

We look forward to recognizing you and the outstanding achievement of your Illinois centennial business or organization as part of our state’s history. For more information about the Society and our Centennial Awards, call 217-525-2781 or visit the ISHS website at www.historyillinois.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
