Nominations for ISHS Board of Directors and Advisory Board now being accepted
The Illinois State Historical Society is seeking a few good people to serve on its Board of Directors and Advisory Board.
Do you know someone who has:
- enthusiasm for promoting Illinois history through the Illinois State Historical Society’s educational, commemorative, research and publishing activities?
- experience as a lay-person or professional in the field of local, state, regional and/or national history?
- concern for connecting the Society with local organizations and communities and expanding the Society’s membership, and ideas for ways of accomplishing these goals?
- an understanding that Board service involves some personal expense as well as a commitment of time, as the Society holds its Board meetings (usually four per year) and its committee meetings in locations around the State.
Candidates whom you nominate MUST be members of the Society, although they do not have to have been members for any fixed length of time when they are nominated.
If you know someone who fits this profile, please talk with the prospective candidate to make sure he or she is willing to serve. Then, use this form to recommend your candidate. If you have more than one candidate, feel free to duplicate the form.
And please note that the Nominating Committee very much welcomes self-nominations.
To be elected are five (5) voting Directors who serve three-year terms and five (5) or more non-voting Advisory Board members who serve one-year terms. The Nominating Committee will consider all suggestions, contact those it nominates, and present a slate for consideration by the Board in February or March. Those elected will begin their service at the 2020 Annual Meeting.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: December 31, 2019
