Junior Historians Live!: “That Belongs in a Museum” (Virtual)
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum
Join Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Educators, Historians, and Librarians as we host an exciting “That Belongs in a Museum” show-and-tell event. Although we’ve borrowed this idea from an adult event, we think kids (through age 18) will love to share the story of a family treasure with their peers and learn more about what’s meaningful to other kids and their families.
To prepare, kids will need to choose a family treasure or artifact and learn more about its history from family members so they can tell its story to peers. If a family treasure isn’t an option, it can be a unique or collectible item of great meaning. During the event, kids will take turns showing their artifact and sharing its story. After each “share,” the audience will vote to determine the name of the museum where the object should live.
Groups will be facilitated by ALPLM staff and breakout sessions in Zoom will be used to ensure all kids have a chance to participate. Sibling groups with a common object to share are encouraged to present their story together.
Please register for this event here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Please save this email as it is your “ticket” (via the link unique to you) into the event.
