The marker is located north of East Moline in the triangle formed by IL 80 and the road leading to Campbell’s Island.

At Campbell’s island, approximately one mile northwest of this point, Indians led by Black Hawk attacked a force of US Regulars and Rangers under Lieutenant John Campbell on July 19, 1814. The Americans were defeated with a loss of sixteen killed.
